Worldwide Beable Champions

Beable is our district’s online tool that combines reading practice with career exploration at all grade levels. Their monthly Power-Up Contests encourage students to do their best work to attain points, get a spot on the Leaderboard, and win cash prizes.

Two of our students earned top honors in both rounds of the contest. S.A., a 6th grader from Desert View Elementary, and A.R., a 9th grader from Los Lunas High School, competed against over 35,000 other students nationwide for top honors. Thanks to their hard work and outstanding effort, Los Lunas Schools can now proudly claim two #1 Beable champs!

Desert View Elementary Beable Champ and familyDesert View Elementary’s S.A. came in 1st Place Worldwide for the October Contest. In November, he earned 1st Place in his school for the most points! Way to go!

At a school wide assembly honoring Desert View Elementary School for becoming an Apple Distinguished School, S.A. was awarded his Beable 1st Place Worldwide Certificate and earned a trophy and cash prize. His parents and teacher were so very proud!

S.A. likes that there are many exciting topics available in Beable that he can learn about. He says, “Sometimes I don’t know about the topics and Beable helps me out with that.” He added, “Beable has helped my reading very much. It’s helped me figure out words I’ve never learned because it tells you to work with twin consonants that I didn’t know so Beable has helped me learn them.”

S.A.’s RIASEC Code is AIE (Artistic, Investigative, Enterprising). His top 3 careers in Beable are the Fine Artists, Including Painters, Sculptors, and Illustrators, Film and Video Editors, and Musicians and Singers. He loves to draw and do art work.

S.A. will be going for another Worldwide Win! It was his goal to be the Worldwide Winner, even though he didn’t know there were prizes!

LLHS Beable Champ and parentsLos Lunas High School’s A.R. came in 3rd place for the October contest. Not to be outdone, she tripled her points in the November contest and took first place, worldwide! Her parents came to see Ms. Paolo Vazquez, her teacher, award her the gift card and trophy during Spanish class and were very proud.

As a student, Ms. Vazquez says A.R. is the model student every teacher loves to have. She is hardworking, dedicated, intelligent, always willing to help and answer questions, and tries her best in everything she does.

According to Beable, A.R.'s most pronounced RIASEC code (which matches interests to careers) is I for “Investigative”. This means she most likely will choose a career that involves analysis, independence, and scholarship, so it’s no surprise she plans to attend college after high school then medical school to eventually become an orthopedic surgeon.

Since the start of the year, A.R.'s reading level in Beable has increased by 35 Lexile points, so she’s well on her way to being prepared for any career she ultimately chooses!
